Book Clubs
If your book club is reading one of my books, I’d be happy to join you for an online conference call (using Zoom or whatever conferencing software you prefer) as you near the end of the book. I’d be happy to answer questions and to discuss the book’s topic with the group.
Note that if you are reading one of my books published by Ancient Faith, their store offers discounted pricing on cases of books, so if your group is geographically local to you, that may be a good option.
If you are a parish book club, your parish bookstore can order books or cases of books at a wholesale rate, and then profit from the club’s purchases or pass the savings on to the group, as the parish desires.
The Art of Myrrhbearing is a great choice for book clubs, as its chapters include discussion questions to promote reflection and to ensure meaningful dialogue when you gather together.
You might choose to approach the book in one of two ways:
Enjoy a slow pace of one short chapter per week and a weekly conversation, reading the book over the course of about one year (assuming that there are holidays where you take breaks)
Read several short chapters together and discuss them at monthly gatherings. If you were to bundle chapters, you might divinde Part One into two sections, and Parts Two and Three into three sections each. Each section will be around 30 pages, and you can then discuss several chapters at a time.)
